Blue Moon

Puppies

Bringing home a new puppy is a very important decision an individual or family can make. It is a commitment of many years of caring and personal and financial responsibility.

Please contact me for more information. I will email you detailed information about our litter plans, and our processes and to set up a time to talk and schedule a home visit.

The Blue Moon Promise…

  • We learn each puppy’s personalities and do our best to help you find the right puppy for your lifestyle.
  • Puppy parents are encouraged to remain in contact with Blue Moon Mini Shepherds. Not only do we enjoy hearing about our puppies, but I am available to answer any questions or address any issues that may arise.
  • Blue Moon Mini American Shepherd Puppies are raised utilizing the Puppy Puzzle process and suggestions of Pat Hastings regarding puppy socialization and early rearing techniques. Puppies are evaluated at 8 weeks of age for their structure and temperament. By the time a puppy leaves our home, they have…
      • Experienced many adults, children, and domestic pets.
      • Been exposed to a variety of senses stimulation (i.e.  floor surfaces, sounds, toys, etc.)
      • Been on car rides, golf cart rides, walks in woods, fields, and wetlands (sometimes weather dependent!)
      • Introduced to crate training and periods of individual isolation.
      • Utilizing a doggy door at free will which initiates house training.
      •  Learning basic manners.
  • Puppies go to their new homes with a Health Guarantee, vaccination records, buyer/seller contract, a supply of Life’s Abundance dog food, familiar toy, and fabric from home, and treats. I also provide a CD including pictures of your puppy, health and pedigree information for the parents, and articles I have found helpful when bringing home a new puppy.
  • Each of the puppies has a docked tail (to meet the breed standard), dew claws removed and up-to-date on appropriate shots (7, 10, and 13 weeks) and worming schedule (4, 6, 8 and 12 weeks) before leaving our home.
  • If for any reason you cannot keep your puppy, please contact me and I will help you to place the puppy in a new home, or take him or her back to Blue Moon. It is extremely important to me that none of my dogs are ever placed in a shelter.
  • Our puppies come to you with a guarantee of good health (see the contract). I offer a three-day health check-up, two years genetic, and a five-year nutritional guarantee.
  • Your new puppy will be eligible for AKC registration.

Puppy Info

Our dogs are bred for health, quality, conformation, and temperament. We spend a lot of time with our dogs. Whether their future is conformation, therapy, agility, obedience, companionship, or the backyard Frisbee champion, our goal is to find perfect homes where the priority is a family pet and companion.

Pricing may vary but is typically $2000, plus MN Sales Tax, The amounts posted are pet only prices, and require the puppy to be spayed or neutered by 24 months of age. Please realize that purchasing a “Pet” puppy in no way indicates that this puppy is not show or breeding quality. I love placing puppies in forever-spoiled pet homes! However, if you are interested in a puppy to bring into the show ring, a performance dog, or with breeding rights, please contact me. I will do my best to find the right puppy for your goals and lifestyle.

When you have decided to purchase a puppy from Blue Moon Mini Shepherds, a $300.00 non-refundable application fee is required to hold him/her. Upon receiving signed contract and application fee, the puppy will be placed “on hold” until payment is complete. If application fees are received prior to the litter being bornyou will be placed on a waiting list, and that determines the order of choosing a puppy when they are available, in order of application fee received. Individual arrangements for payment plans can be discussed as long as all money is cleared before the puppy leaves our home. I accept cash, check, money order, Venmo, or Zelle. When payment is complete arrangements will be made for pick-up, delivery, or other transportation options (i.e. flight nanny, ground, I prefer not to send by air cargo).

Bringing home a new puppy is a very important decision an individual or family can make. It is a commitment of many years of caring and personal and financial responsibility.

Our dogs are bred for quality conformation and temperament. My goal is to find that really good looking Aussie just in the smaller package of the Miniature American Shepherd. We spend a lot of time with our dogs. Whether their future is conformation, agility, obedience, or the backyard Frisbee champion, our goal is to find perfect homes where the priority is a family pet and companion.

Blue Moon Shepherds is a small kennel with a few litters a year, but I do maintain a waiting list. Whether you are ready for a puppy now, or down the road, please contact me if you are interested in being placed on this list.

I cannot guarantee size or eye color. Eye color can change and size is estimated only. I have no way of knowing for sure if your mini will remain a mini according to the breed standard. As with any breed of dog, some may be smaller, or bigger. But, I have been doing this for a while, and I have a pretty good idea of the size of the maturity of your new puppy!!

Puppies will have a health check, tails docked (if needed) and dewclaws removed before they are 3 days old. All our puppies are wormed at 4, 6,  8, 10 and 12  weeks as well as vaccinated with a puppy shot combination at 7, 10, 13 weeks. Your new puppy will be up-to-date for his/her age and health records are provided.

At week 6, puppy choices begin, starting with the first person on the wait list and continuing until everyone on the list has made a puppy selection. Everyone on the list will have had weeks to visit, observe, read, hear, or facetime about each pup and therefore it does not take weeks to decide on a puppy. With prior weeks of observation, and private time set aside for each family, the decision is usually completed quickly. Puppies choices will be provided after the 7 week well puppy vet visit.

Puppies are usually ready to go home at 8-9 weeks of age. Each puppy is sent home with a health and vaccination record, microchip information, a week’s supply of food, as well as a toys and treats.

No Puppies Available Until Spring 2024

We do not have any available at this time. Please contact me for more information.

I do accept applications to hold a place on my waiting list for future litters planned in 2024. At this time we are sliding into semi retirement and are planning for one litter due in mid April 2024, and ready for their new homes in mid June 2024. If we receive enough interest, we will consider another litter to be available either late summer or fall of 2024.

Please contact me for more information and to learn about our plans and process, and to set up a time to talk on the phone and visit.
